Can't get Live Segments to work

Former Member

I initially starred 3 segments in Strava and they all downloaded to my Edge 530.  I was going out today so starred several more segments and none of them appeared on the phone.  I tried multiple times with no success so I went into the segment settings and deleted all segements from the device thinking I could just start again.   Since then I haven't been abe to get a single starred segement onto the device.  One thing I have noticed a few times is that before the sync has even completed it pops up a message saying "deleting segments" then a second message pops up with "deleted all segments".  It's almost as if it downloads them and then deletes them but I have no idea why.  Any help would be appreciated as I'm finding it intensely frustrating.

  • same with me. 6.0 did not solve this. this issue is 1 year old. unbelievable.

  • 6 starred Strava segments only one appear on my Edge 530. Doesn't matter how many times I tried to delete/sync, same thing. Sometimes, I even see a blank segment showing up.

    Is a year patient enough?

Yeah I'm just waiting for an answer on this too Garmin. I have competed several courses and even got a few KOM only to get home and it appears "Deleting segments". I am pushing 50 and don't think I will be pushing this hard for too long. lets get it sorted.

  • Is it really true the course MUST be created in Strava? Nowadays I only use Komoot to create my courses.

  • Live segments "work" without any navigation running now. So it is completely independent where a route was created with and if you are using navigation or not.

The problem, however, remains that many segments do not trigger (I am talking about climbs, downhill segments are not available as live segments), although displayed in the segment preview (segment starts in n meters).
On top of that many segments that go "off course" kill your navigation and you have to restart the route (yes this takes minutes).
So my recommendation is to not use live segments when navigating and again only 1/2 live segments work any way (I think you got that from the thread already).
These problems persist for a long long time. So Garmin does not care about live segments that much.
