Incorrect Max HR used for Time In Zone calculation

I've had an HR spike and Garmin autodetected new max HR as 248. I have used Garmin Connect app to set it back to 176. However, all new rides after saving show Time in Zone calculated based on Max HR of 248 - both in the Edge, as well as in Garmin connect app. I've checked Max HR after syncing the unit after a few rides and it is showing as 176 in the app.

Has anyone experience anything like this?

Any ideas how to fix Time in Zone graph?

  • Have not had that particular bug but my unit persists in resetting Max HR to something ridiculous like 265 due to a measurement spike even though the Auto Detect option is 'off'.  The time in HR zones for the activity are then based on the high Max HR.  Manually resetting my Max HR to the correct value does not change times in HR zones for the previous activity.  I have not had wrong times in zones so long as the unit has not reset my Max. I'm not getting much help from Garmin Support so far.

  • Try resetting the maxHR in the web version of GC rather than the app. Also, check the general HR zones, as well as the sport specific ones.
