Charging dock/cradle

I've already suggested it to Garmin, does anyone else think this would be good?

Why not offer a charging dock or cradle?

The 530/830 can connect via WiFi and Bluetooth so rarely need a usb connection to a computer.

It can also be charged via the external battery through the terminals on the mounting point. These terminals could be used for charging at home from a USB supply (maybe they also do data too?) if a dock was available that mimicked the outfront bracket but includes a power connection.

This would enable charging without opening the USB cover and eventually wearing out the seal.

I suppose you could do this with the battery pack and an outfront bracket but that's an expensive solution.

Thoughts?

  • Great idea, I just received a 530 as a gift and so enjoy uploading ride data without physical connection. That hard point connection is always the Garmin Achilles Heal, bike GPS, run GPS, auto GPS they all have the same fault point. Give me a cradle Slight smile

  • A charging cradle is exactly whats required. Mini USB was bad enough, but micro-USB is just the most ridiculous connection.

The Edge 25 had a sort of mini-dock.

    Sort it out Garmin!
