Upgrading 520 to 530 - transfer of files

I'm upgrading from a 520 to a 530. An earlier post said that the Totals and Records fit files are the only files that can be carried over from an old unit to the 530, although that was from a unit older than the 520.

Is that still the case. Ideally transferring screen layouts would save a bit of time

Please don't try transferring screen layouts or settings. They are different enough that you will cause yourself a lot of issues if you do,

You can transfer course, segments, workouts, locations and records without issue.

Totals are dependent on profiles so that is not really possible by just moving the file.

AndrewA_NZ - if you attach the totals.fit files from both of your devices I will see what I can do.

Thanks for the offer Mike, but i do a fair chunk of my training indoors now without my Garmin, so the totals are really important. If i have a change of heart, i will let you know

I can confirm that transferring settings does NOT work. Unfortunately, a Garmin tech support rep suggested that I do this (per https://support.garmin.com/ms-MY/?faq=eWswdSH4aC3xrXxmQj7U9A). The biggest problem was the settings.fit file I moved over from my 520 to the 530. Recognition of my sensors across multiple bikes was completely messed up and I had to restore to factory defaults on the 530, starting all over again.
