No Garmin segments displayed during ride

Since I got my my Edge 530 I have not seen any Garmin segments (not Stravaa) displayed during a ride. It worked perfectly on my Edge 520 plus. Everything is enabled...Segments and the data field. I have tried deactivating and reactivating my almost 20 segments....but nothing helped so far. I am running the current version 5.30.

Any ideas?

    Same issue for me. No segments showing up.

    Same here. I transferred the segments from the garmin mobile app to the 530 and they are not activated...

    I transferred some using Garmin Express and they worked.

    First check that there are some segments on the unit. Look in the Garmin\Segments folder.

    Next check that you can access then via the UI. Look for segments under training.

    Finally are you following a course or not?

    The segments are displayed under training on the device. On Monday I went out for a ride and it was the first time that Garmin segments were displayed on my 530. 

    I am not sure what helped and I need to investigate it further. This is what I changed before/during the ride:

    - It was the first time that I did a ride without navigation..just started activity recording

    - I changed the satellite setting from "GPS+ Galileo" to "GPS+Glonass".. 2.42 beta chipset beta is installed

    - I deleted some strange named segments e.g. "NI-001"

    Segments will not work if you are navigating unless the course is created in Garmin Connected and transfer by either GC or GCM to the Edge. That course file will embedded your segments in it if the course crosses any.

    On my previous 520 plus the Garmin segments also worked when I imported tracks via the komoot app under Garmin IQ. Why not on the 530 anymore?

    I'm not familiar with the komoot app. 

    I don't suppose you have any of the course files you had on the 520 from the app around that you could post?

    Unfortunately I have not any course files from my 520 anymore. I do not get the technical reason why the segments need to be embedded in the course file?! It should also work without as the the segements are on the device anyhow.

    Are the segments also be added to the course file when uploading a gpx or tcx to Garmin Connect?

    Garmin segments will get added to a a Garmin course when it is transferred using GCM or GE as the FIT file will embed the segments.

    It will not work with a GPX or TCX file as they don't support the embedded segment feature.

    This is the way all Garmin devices work. They currently only support  a single navigation activity at a time. The units will execute a segment that is part of a course file, but will not search for segments when running a course.
