Torque and pedal smoothness

Hello,

I have using Power2Max NG with EDGE 520 and now I bought new EDGE 530.

With ANT+ I have only Pedal Smoothness, both legs together, and I do not have data for Torque, with BLE I do not have Torque or Pedal Smoothness either. I contacted Power2Max support and they said me that Garmin do not support Torque (neither via ANT+ nor Bluetooth) and that Garmin  supports Pedal Smoothness via ANT+, but values will not be recorded for later analysis. Please see picture below.

Is it truth or they are wrong? How can I get this data?

Please find two fit files, BLE recorded with EDGE 530 and ANT+ recorded with Fenix 3HR

Is it thru? If is not haw can I get this data?Ormylia Bike ANT+.zipOrmylia Bike BLT.zip

  • The difference is with what the protocols support and not the Edge.

BLE does not support Toque Effectiveness/Pedal Smoothness

The ANT protocol supports TE/PS and the Edge will record it for later use if it is sent.

I think you might be mixing up the terms Torque and Torque Effectiveness.

Crank base power meters typically send torque and cadence from which the head unit computes power. The Power2Max sends the already computed power value and does not transmit torque.

Looking at the data provided fro ANT. Power2Max sends left and right TE, but the values are always zero (0). In terms of PS they send a combined value. They do not break it down into a left and right component. Garmin Connect will display left and right PS, but not a combined value.
