Heart Rate Zones Calculating Differently

Hi All,

Despite my heart rate zones being set exactly the same on both my Edge 1030 and Edge 530 when identical rides are uploaded to Garmin Connect the calculated time in zones is different. Not by seconds or a couple minutes but by upwards of 20 minutes difference for the same zone. It doesn’t make sense that this should be the case. Time in zone calculations should be the same or off by a matter of seconds at the most. Anyone have an idea of whats going on? I also can’t be sure which unit is giving me the proper calculation, if either one is.

Could you post the the FIT file from the 1030 and 530 and I will take a look?

I rode with a Garmin 935 and the Edge 530 this morning and both gave me the same zones within seconds of each other. You might check to make sure the cycling HR zones are the same between the two units. I know you said the zones are the same, but there are different sets of zones, i.e.: running, cycling etc.. You may be aware of that and if so, please disregard.

Yes, next time out and I use both. I delete one of the files after upload so I don’t get double rides.

I'm going to assume that the HR data source is the same for both units.

But I'd recommend checking the HR zones settings on both units.

I’ve been trying to upload two fit files but I keep getting an error and it won’t post. I’ll keep trying. Thanks
