Navigating back to a course after going off course.

it's kinda crazy - mine wants to take me back to the start instead of back to route

I recently purchased a new 530. Twice I have been in the middle of a race, and there was a slight deviation from the originally planned course, but was soon back on the original course. Even when I was back on the course, it was still telling me to make a U-turn, and all course features were essentially rendered useless.

1. Off Course warning pops up (fine,  because in the moment, that was actually true). However, once I got back on course, it was still telling me that I was off course and prompted me to make a U-turn.
2. I selected the menu to continue course. Didn't work
3. I selected to load the course again. Didn't work.
4. I selected to take me back to the start. Didn't work.

This is maddening. I was racing a course that I was unfamiliar with and I really wanted the ClimbPro feature to tell me the length of the climb so I would know how to pace myself, but the "OFF COURSE" warning was prohibiting the ClimbPro feature.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. It's not uncommon for road construction, or last minute changes by race officials to cause a slight course deviation. Since the race nearly always gets back on course (eventually) it would be great if my 530 would recognize when I'm back on course.

Any suggestions or help?

Also had the same experience this weekend with a road closure. After awhile mine seemed to right itself and stop with the "U-Turn" alerts and continue on the course. But it took probably 3-4 miles. Actually missed a turn because of it. 

Oh YES - I missed my turnings to and my other riders snickered at my garmin.......I felt a bit embarassed for my purchase. MR GARMIN whoever who codes these navigating algorithms - you need to remove the damn U turn and let the garmin reroute. While you are at it gives us an easy way to get the unit to generate numerous route options until we get the one we like. 

I went off course today on purpose and got back on course shortly.  The U-turn alert was driving me crazy.  It finally went away after a few miles.  I really do hope Garmin take notice and fix this issue.

i wouldn't lose any sleep waiting for that to happen. It's been like that since since the first garmin gps - why would the 830 be different - besides the coder is probably busy with other branded GPS who puts a higher priority on such things as useful navigation features. Garmin's selling point is....see i've got so many functions - varia, connectivity to everything you want.....but actual real usage often finds these features broken. The coder can only do so much in a day.

Perhaps there's been some improvement to the routing (beta 4.21) - i missed a turn (confusions due to issues with the pop up turn distances) and turned a street earlier and the unit did not ask me to make a u-turn. It rerouted me ahead to join the original route - i was very happy to see that.

I have exactly the same problem it is worse around a roundabout for some reason.
