Feature request: Easier way to disable a Strava Live Segment during a ride.

I just figured out how to disable a Strava Live Segment while on that segment. It requires a several button pushes and is a little cumbersome. This is in contrast to how it was done on the 820, where it was just a button push & confirmation. It would be nice to have the option to cancel be easier, only requiring one or two button pushes, not navigating through the menu. It would also be nice if the segment could be disabled when the alert comes up, so that nothing shows on the screen at the start of that segment.

This is a useful feature in the situation where a smaller segment is within a larger segment, or where one starts after another begins, and you want to try for the second segment, not the first one. I used it frequently on my 820.

Thanks,

Peter

  • Not only for segments but also for other kind of alerts (lap summary Page, eat and drink alerts, etc). A Button long press  on a 530 or pressing a corner on 830 may do the job

  • - I think the difference is the button navigation on the Edge 530. I agree there are a few more steps. Below I have added the instructions to turn them all off.

Press down to MENU>Select Training>Strava Live Segments>Segment Options>Enable/Disable>Disable All or Use Edit Multiple to disable from a list

  • Thanks, but this isn't what I was requesting.

Sometimes when doing a ride I have a small segment that starts after, and is within a larger segment. If I decide to go for the smaller segment, I have to disable the larger or current segment to get the smaller to show up on my 530. (which may start a few hundred yards into the first). On the 820, a simple touch stopped the current segment. On the 530, I have to go through several button pushes to get to that option. It would be much more convenient to only have to push one button & then a confirmation.

  • I also have the same Problem.
Basically for each uphill more than a view meters more than one segments are available, and sub segments are there all the time.
to a moutain ahead, it sould be easy to chose which one to use.

  • Could not agree more you summed it up perfectly, on my fenix 5xplus, 1 button push to cancel segment on 530 its several, and it's dangerous, whoever decided on that needs to get out and ride a bit, crazy stupid,  ,
