Hi
I just starting using the 530 and sometimes it stops recording the route I am doing and just has a straight "as the crow flies" line. I didn't get a message saying lost signal/ GPS. Is there another reason this can happen?

no
Your fit file got uploaded to Garmin Connect, so the file was not corrupt.
Your start and end points are correct ?
Distance correct ? Speed sensor installed ?
You should call Garmin Support and tell them about your mishap.
Most likely you loose GPS tracking because of the immature firmware
happy biking
Thanks, the distance is wrong, about half what my other bike gadget recorded. No speed sensor installed.
On a closer look, I realise that I stopped at that point, so perhaps a setting to stop recording? I was stopped for max 10 minutes.
I pressed the bottom right hand button to stop, and again when I started and it went green.
Then I just started cycling again. I have the audio on and no signal that there was no reception etc. I was following a course and it continued to navigate me.
If it had stopped, I guessed there wouldn't be a straight line back to the finish point?
chocluver - What GPS setting are you using? (GPS Only, GPS+GLONASS, GPS+Galileo)
Hi, I have the same issue on my garmin 530 edge. It stops recording and then reconnects later with reduced KM's and a straight line to another point in my course
Same thing happened today on my 530 after 10miles navigation re-calculated but saved activity shows a straight line home as the crow flies! Gremlins inside 530 :-(
Conflict may exist doing 4 things at the same time - navigating/recording route/live tracking/trailforks map pops up when I stop near trail :-(
All good today, updated software to v5.50.0.0 then did the same route with no issues
I guess I figured out why the straight lines happen.
I had never ever applied a manual lap on my 530, but I had a tour of 11 days and I wanted to document how much time I needed to get up to famous passes in Italy and France. So I always applied manual laps on the top.
And all my activities are shown on GC with straight lines beginning from the locations I pushed the lap button.
I checked my earlier activities and I could find no other activities with fake straight lines.
Let me add that in my 3rd party sports software shows properly even those activities which are shown with fake straight lines by GC.
Therefore I bet that GC cannot interpret (manual) laps (and maybe pauses, but I never applied autopause or manual pause) for some unknown reasons, at least in case of 530.
