Light Network Forming Issues

I didn't have any issues with my 520 Plus, but coming to the Edge 530, I can't seem to get the lights to show up.  I have the Radar RTL510 (2nd gen one), and the Bontrager ION RT -- only one light shows up in the light area (I think radar + the other one did before?).  The radar itself works just fine, tracks as expected, just the light isn't controllable.  Either way nothing seems to be able to be controllable, have added and re-added many times with no luck.  The "Forming light network" message comes up every few minutes for the entire ride (turning the backlight on, and blocking my top row).

    I should say I started on firmware 3.20, and tried 3.33 beta on Friday as well, with no luck.

  • I'm still trying to figure this out too. The first time i added the Ion 200 RT, the RTL510 had already been added. They seemed to work fine for a few days. And then one day, it just won't recognize one or both of them. Just like in your situation, the Edge 530 was able to control the radar but it was not able to form the light network.

    It took multiple times removing and adding both devices back for the Edge 530 to finally recognize them.

    I ended up trying multiple times, and I think I got it working finally.

    What seems to work:
    * Remove both lights
    * Add the radar from the add sensor, specifically picking lights (if searching all, or adding through the lights section, it seems not to work).
    * Then add the ion 200rt through the lights menu
    * Everything works!

    Took me so long to get it working, so many bugs around this (if you add radar if ion 200 rt is already paired, and you do it through the lights menu, nothing happens in the lights menu, but somehow it still adds the radar..)

  • funny, after 915 thousand attempts that's what worked for me as well. once paired, everything is working well.

    Same issue for me... no matter which way I pair it does not work. I have two other lights

  • I had a lot of trouble adding my RTL510 as a Light Network, but eventually worked it out:

    * Remove your existing lights.

    * Long press the button on the Varia until it enters pairing mode - you will see the status light flashing purple (rather than blue)

    * Add the Varia specifically as a Light, rather than a Radar, or searching for All Sensors.

  • This is what worked for me.  brand new 530 and varia rtl510.  when i added as "search all sensors" or as "radar" it only added the radar function.  when i searched for "light" sensors and added it, it added both the light network and the radar

    Hi, i'm trying to associate varia rtl510 as light but I can't. When I search for light sensor I discover only radar sensor. Solution? Thank you.

  • This also worked for me.  I also did a reset on the VARiA by holding down the mode button for 8 seconds.

  • Adding the VARIA as a light also worked for me.  I also did a reset on the VARiA by holding down the mode button for 8 seconds.
