Turn guidance not working

How did you create the TCX course?

I traced out a course on Ride with GPS, saved it and exported as a tcx file which I then pasted into New Files on the 530. The course shows up as an option to choose, and displays on the non moving map found in the Course sub menu.

However when I access the map from the stats page by hitting the down scroll key, it shows the moving map but no course displays and no turn guidance happens

I created a course in Ride with GPS and instead of exporting as a TCX, I exported it as FIT. I have no issue with course guidance. Let me give the TCX course a try.

I have no issue with the TCX course as well. The course shows up in the map page (you have to wait for it to finish loading, that is, waiting until it is 100%). I also see the Turn Directions (on the map page, press the upper right button and then select "Turn Directions"). The Turn Directions is what the Edge 530 provides you for turn guidance. The only thing not working for me is I selected a light green color for the course and it defaulted to purple. I wish there is an option to always display the map facing north, instead of the direction it thinks you are heading.

Ok, i think I figure out the course color issue. That is the color setting to display the course on the map when you have the "Always Display" option enabled for the course. And this only works on the map when you are not navigating a course. Once you get a course loaded to navigate, the course goes back to purple.

I think I have sussed out my problem. Having chosen the course, One has to click the top right button on Ride to load the route which then shows a progress on loading the course entitled 'Calculating'.I can then see the route and turns are shown.

Like you, I wish north up was an option.

The manual is singularly unhelpful, n'est pas?

Go to the activity profile you wish to change

Select Navigation, Map, Orientation
