Shimano Di2 D-Fly connection drops

I have frequent droputs/reconnects of my Shimano Di2 D-Fly on Edge 520 Plus. Messages keeps popping up all the time about Di2 connected and Di2 shift mode. Also got a couple of Di2 Low Battery warnings, even though it's not. The D-Fly is approx 10cm from the Edge. I do not experience these problems on my Fenix 5.
FW 2.60 did not help.

I'm guessing that you have updated the D-Fly using the e-tube phone app?

I'm seeing the same on etap.....constant reconnnects, basically unusable because it spams continually.

Not a problem with a standard 520, I'm guessing that the standard 520 specifically masks these "electronic gear" disconnects, at least on etap, because of the aggressive transmit timeout. Don't know if DI2 is the same ?

Another 520+ feature that doesn't quite work.....

Yes, all components on latest firmware.

Not that it helps, but I'm not seeing any issue with either D-fly or eTap communication.

interesting.

never had a problem with the standard 520 - I have 2 etap bikes and both do the same thing. Every few minutes I get a sensor found banner across the top of the screen and a corresponding beep. I had this on v2.50 and tried it again on v2.60. I get this whilst riding, not whilst stopped.

can't remember if the ANT+ broadcast is from the shifter (or TT junction box) or the front/rear derailleur - but not seeing power meter dropouts (quarq) so I don't think it's a wireless reception issue.

I notice dcrainmaker said of etap....

"Both Garmin and Wahoo noted to me that one of the ‘challenges’ of eTAP is that it goes to sleep very quickly from a transmission standpoint over the ANT+ Shifting stream (within 30 seconds). So you may see connection/reconnection messages. It’s not a sensor dropout, it’s just..well…going to sleep and waking back up again."

I never saw this on a 520 so I assume garmin suppressed the messages.

The eTap ANT transmitter is in the rear derailleur. The issue you have sounds different to the timeout problem as it sounds like it is happening even while you are riding.

just bumping this as I'm still having the issue with etap

I was thinking of sending it back for a refund and getting an 820 but it looks like this is also a problem on that too:

so it seems that the latest beta firmware has improved this :

Cleaned up some of the sensor found notifications that could occur in the middle of a ride.
