Edge 25 HRM data field

There has been a number of people that have pointed out that the inability to use HRM as a data field on the custom screens is a significant limitation. Can someone from Garmin please comment and let us know whether to expect this in an update or not? This is a big deal to me; probably a deal breaker, and it seems to be a big deal to others. It's a safety issue. We shouldn't be changing screens while rolling and the ability to choose any combination of data on the custom screens is the way to do this. Garmin, please comment.

I would agree 100%. I just picked up an Edge 25 for my wife and the biggest feature she wants when riding with me is tracking her heart rate. She's a newer cyclist and it's exactly why I got her the Edge 25.
  • At first it was great having just the HRM (I was training on HR zone) but know I just hate changing on the screen to check on my cadence and change again for HRM.

It would be great to have the HRM in any of the custom data field.
  • Another vote for this from me. In fact, I consider selling my Edge 25, and just using my Vivoactive instead.
  • Add HR as a custom data field

Rated the thread 5 stars to highlight it. The ability to display HR as a custom field is really a missing feature which needs to be updated. Garmin used to design great sport products and following your HR while doing sport is one of the important thing to do. So please Garmin do something.
  • I thought omission of HR fields form the page 1 and 2 was a bug, so I created case with Garmin support.

Manual shows BPM and Zone as valid data fields. And it sounds natural to have them there when cadence (also sensor-based) is available. So the fact that these fields are actually not on actual unit sounds like a bug. See the manual:

  • This is a necessary feature

The fact you can do nav, virtual trainer and lots of other neat things with this is great. However not being able to set HRM as a field in the customisable screen MUST be an oversight.
  • Here is a workaround/hack

I saw this posted on DCRainmaker's forum: http://www.edge25.net

    I haven't tried it myself.
  • Totally agree

What's really difficult to understand is how could be useful to know, at the same time, HR frequency AND zone... I want to know HR freq OR zone (biological data) compared with another kind of data (mechanical, physical ecc..) such as rpm or power or speed.
It's like to have in the same label "apple, green apple".... and in another label "price for kg". Nosense.
  • Wow this works!
