Possible to display activity status?

This has probably happened to a few of us. By pressing the start button at the beginning of a cycle I must have accidentally double clicked it, so that the entire ride took place in the "paused" status.

I didn't notice as all my key metrics were active: heart rate, cadence, speed, power etc, but just hadn't spotted that the distance was stuck on zero.

Ideally I'd prefer the Play and Paused icons to be permanently visible but I can't figure out if it's possible

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion but it's not the solution. If you pause the activity the timer continues. Distance is however paused, so if that isn't increasing then you're in a pause status. But monitoring…

You can set an display with timer data field.
If the timer doesn't increase, then you are with the activity stopped.

That’s exactly how I do it Elapsed time is displayed and I check to see if it’s counting.
