Edge 130 Plus restart during course activity with custom course points

Hello,

as the title says, I have an issue with the Edge 130 Plus restarting during course activity on which I added custom course points (i.e Energy Gel).
This is very annoying since I'm using custom course points as a big helpers during my XCM races, and it's very important to me to work as expected.
It takes about 10-20s to restart, to connect all sensors again and waiting for me to press play again to continue where it stops.
This is very easy to reproduce.
Just make a custom course (or edit existing one) in Garmin Connect and add at least 1 custom course point.
Regarding notification settings, everything is set correctly as it is described here for the iOS, since this is my 3rd Garmin device for the last 10 years.
Regarding sensors that are attached to Edge are Garmin Rally XC100 powermeter pedals, speed sensor, and Garmin HR strap.

Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Workaround is to use General Point type of custom points!!!

EDIT 2: I reached out to them over support, and they confirmed that the Edge 130 has been discontinued and won’t receive any further software updates. Unfortunately, this means the issue won’t be officially fixed.
  • It's not a matter of engineering, it's a matter of money and disregard for the user. We have to accept it, Garmin is no longer what it used to be for the user; it's a brand that prioritizes quantity over quality. I've already accepted that.

  • I believe it’s beginning to appear that thing ,and now that most e-bikes will come maybe with that feature,it will be a matter of time ,cause the rest it is already in them ,I find it strange that they are not caring about they’re customers

  • Hello everyone,

after I had some technical Issues with the Garmin Battery of my EDGE 130 plus, I took a test ride and used my Garmin fenix 6 Pro in parallel to check the data of the EDGE 130 plus.
I planned the course with Garmin connect. After finishing the planning of the course, I saved it among my courses and transferred it to the EDGE 130 Plus. A "Hazard" sign was placed in the map overview of the Garmin course creation interface at a roundabout.
Reboot of Garmin Edge 130 plus at Hazard points
As I was riding along, my Edge went of at the hazard sign in the roundabout. The device will switch off apparently at roundabouts if there's a hazard sign to show. As mentioned above, it is the case at other custom points except the "General custom point".
Consequences of the reboot at custom points, hazard points or roundabouts
After my test ride, I made a comparison of the rides made with my fenix 6 pro and the EDGE 130 Plus. I had differences in the total ascent and descent.
The elevation profile is quite the same JUST UNTIL THE UNDESIRED REBOOT due to the hazard point!
After that, the EDGE 130 Plus had a much more coarse elevation profile where several climb meters are hidden due to its coarseness.
I found several topics regarding the intentional shutdown of the EDGE 130 Plus to save battery life. After such a shutdown, the plotting of the elevation data in the Edge 130 Plus is more coarse and inaccurate.
Auto-shutdown should therefore be switched off!
