New courses - sometimes they just dont appear

Anyone else have this behaviour?

You send a new course to edge 130 plus, yet they just dont appear in the navigate list?

I send the course, Garmin express synchs. If I look in the files in the Edge I can see a new course in the New Files folder. Yet after disonnecting tha course just doesnt show uo

  • How many do you have on the device itself?  I think the limit is 15 courses.  Perhaps someone else can confirm.

Also, if you just have too many previous activities saved (previous rides), they start acting goofy.  Connect the device to your computer and look at the activities folder (something like that, can't remember if that is correct name) and delete previous rides if you have a lot.  I generally try to delete a bunch when I get up to around 30 rides.  Deleting from the Edge does not delete from GC and does not remove from any odometer mileage.

  • I have emptied the activity folder and still no joy.
    Currently no courses are installing.

I feel like I have manually reset this thing a thousand times.

There is over 16Mb free space on the thing.

I only have around 20 courses. But trying to get the last few across is just impossible, Sometimes this thing is a piece of junk.

  • The web site says a limit of 30

  • Ok, Thanks.  I have the regular 130 and I just checked the website, that one is limited to 15 courses.

  •  has confirmed the limit is supposed to be 30 courses.  I'd count up exactly how many courses you have on it to be sure.  You could try deleting a few and see if that helps with loading new ones.  Deleting from the device does not delete them from GC, you can always reload them later.  I've seen wonky behavior with too many activities even with lots of free space left.  Apparently the storage is segmented in a way that it can't necessarily use all the storage shown.

  • Ah  wonderful! The bad behaviour is explained!

If only garmin express gave a warning when synching I wouldn't have wasted so much time or if that bit of info was in the manual
