Garmin Connect allows courses to have reasonably long names, but when a course is transferred to the device, the name is truncated after 16-17 characters. This makes it quite difficult to identify them, especially if you have several. Sure, you can use abbreviations and keep the name below the 16-17 limit even in Connect, but you have to admit that "Blk Mtn 2 Hdgs L" is less intuitive than "Black Mountain to Lake Hodges - Long".
I thought this was a bug so I patiently waited for a new firmware update, but when 2.80 came out and the issue was still there, I contacted Garmin Support, who told me that "it's working as intended". I pointed out that at the very least, they should let the names take the full width of the (already small) screen, and ideally add right-to-left name scrolling when a course is highlighted, but they just repeated that it's working as intended.
Dear Garmin, the way it was intended does not really work! Stuff like that was barely acceptable for a user interface 20 years ago, today these devices have enough processing power to allow for much more refined visualizations. Please revisit your position, and treat this as a bug that needs to be fixed.
