Edge 130 Plus - stealth beta 2.66

Despite the release of the Edge 130 Plus only last year it has been somewhat concerning that updates for this Edge device have slowed...

So some good news - a new beta release is available here https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=15399 (credit to gpsinformation.net)

Changes made from version 2.60 to 2.66:

Add Power Data Field
Record metabolic calories in activity file
Enable Climbpro while on a Smart Trainer
Add icon to distance to next data field when full width Data Field
Improvements to course processing
Fixed an issue where the elevation graph could show no data in specific circumstances
Fixed an issue where data field layouts could change on software update

Unfortunately still no fixes for:

configuration of lap interval
auto scroll obscuring data field text
support for BLE devices with multiple services

Here’s hoping for more Edge 130 Plus releases :-)

Has anyone been able to successfully install this? I followed the instructions but nothing is happening. Tried checking the System menu and restarting the device but I didn't get any prompt to update. Strangely when I reconnect my Edge 130 Plus to the computer, the GUPDATE.GCD file which I copied to the GARMIN folder is missing. I want to see if this update fixes an issue I observed.

On a long ride last weekend, I encountered an issue wherein the altitude would not update reliably. I was doing laps on a road which has ¬70m D+ (give or take 5m) per loop. The first 20 laps went fine, but later on I noticed the device was significantly discounting the elevation gain. On multiple occasions I monitored the altitude while climbing and the numbers were not updating. At one point, I decided to stop at the top and monitored the altitude. Within 4 minutes it went from 68m, 75m, 83m, 91m and finally 94m (past data shows it should be ¬90m). By the end of 40 laps, the Edge 130 Plus recorded only 2,200m D+, way below the expected 2,800m D+ (if 70m D+ average per lap) or even 2,600m D+ (if 65m D+ average). What's worse is when I applied elevation correction in Garmin Connect, it changed the elevation gain to 6,300m D+ (WTH!). Just looking at the elevation chart I don't understand how it calculated 6,300m.

@MarceloRodrigo - How did you update to 2.80? The latest non-beta version I can find is 2.60.

Strange. My Garmin Express (v7.5.0.0, latest) isn't picking up the v2.80 update. It just says my Edge 130 Plus is up to date at version 2.60.

I could update using Garmin Connect on Android, without issues.

Not working via Android Garmin Connect as well, I don't see a prompt to update to v2.80. Tried removing the device and adding it back but the same. I think the update cycles probably vary by region. I'll check with the local Garmin support here.
