Segments in a course not synching

I am having trouble getting segments from Garmin COnnect to my 130 plus.

I have created courses and the courses go over segments that have been created by others, As suggested by others I have added these segments to my favourites, After synching a course there are no segments on my 130 plus.

In the manual it says

": When you download a course from your Garmin Connect account, all segments in the course are downloaded automatically"

I was hoping I would create a course, and when I synch GC would see what segments overlap and send both the course and segments to my device, Yet whilst the course is there, I cant see any segments.

How should this functionality work?

What you describe is what should happen. If you are using Garmin Segments and create a course in Garmin Connect it should match the course with the started/favorite segments. Add reference points to them in the course file and down the segments when you sync. You must download the course using Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile. Do not manually download the course file as that will not include the segments or their reference.

I synched the course from connect . This opens express and does the synch.

Thanks. The file is missing the segment references. Let me try it with a unit I have.

Thanks, your help is appreciated. I can manually synch across segments. It's this documented thing about sending across segments in the course i would like to crack.
I did have a quick look at the file in a fit viewer and couldnt see any segments.
I guess the question is what are the steps to make garmin connect include segments in a course?

Things I have tried.

1. adding lots of segments to my favourites.

2. creating a new course that covers those segments

3. ensuring my privacy settings are set to show me on segments

4. export that new course to my 130 plus.

It worked for me. I'm sure that your account is configured to use GC segments and not Strava segments, but could you check it.

If you go to the dashboard and select the cog icon on the segments widget does it look like the image below. If you are using GC segments it should offer you the option to switch to Strava segment's.

Yes, the menu shows the same option, so I am using GC Segments.

Looks like I will have to manually synch all the segments across.

I would contact Garmin Support. They may need to check a setting in your account. Unfortunately manually syncing the segments will not not fix the course issue.as Garmin Connect needs to build the segment references into the course file.
