E-Bike connection and data sent to Edge

Hi all,

I have a Specialized Turbo Levo SL connected as eBike to my Edge 1050.

In my ride, I get cadence, power and motor mode. Does it works the same way with Bosch and Avinox motors? I have read that those brans do not send that information to Garmin.

I will thank you any information, as I am planning to replace my Levo for a new one.

You won't get cadence, power or motor mode from Bosch. I've just gone from a Levo SL to a Whyte elyte 140, a brilliant bike but the Bosch motor won't connect to my Edge 1050.

I can only tell from Amflow, which use the DJI Avinox system.

It cannot connect to Garmin.

I've looked at the link and this looks very promising. I have one significant obstacle - I do not have IT skills to implement your instructions. Is there a dummies guide please?

be careful with Bulcan.

They state compatibility with "all Bosch smart system bikes" so I got one for my gen 5 SX. It shows power and cadence as 0. It can only pick up assist mode and speed.

I've connected Bulcan unit to older CX gen 4 and there everything works as intended. But I have power meter pedals there that won't fit SX bike (huge MTB platforms with traction pins will look funny on lightweight gravel bike).

My guess is Bulcan was not tested with Bosch gen 5, someone just assumed that if connectors are the same it will work.

Fun fact: I've tried to ask those questions via their contact email and got nothing for 3 weeks. I hope they will respond to my return request.

Most of the same functionality can be accomplished for free in software using this tool (also not decoding power and cadence on gen 5 Bosch).

sadly I never was proper Android dev and the ways I used back in the day are obsolete now. So I've installed Android Studio, cloned the project and opened it there. Then did a lot of random clicking and it got building eventually. After that my local copy can be pointed to a phone connected over USB, I click "debug launch" and have new app in the drawer.

Probably looking for a guide describing how to build modern (Kotlin) Android app from source using Android Studio is your best bet.

ps. the tool is not mine, just a lucky google search.
