Hi everyone,
I’m a happy Edge 1050 user, but I find the auto-brightness logic very conservative. In forests or under cloudy skies, the screen is often too dim to read comfortably.
I know I can use the brightness slider to add an offset, but the main issue is that this setting resets every time the device is powered off. It is quite tedious to manually adjust the offset at the start of every single ride.
I recently watched a YouTube video from GPS Radler about the new Edge 850. It appears that the 850 uses a different UI for auto-brightness, seemingly without the temporary slider we have on the 1050.
I am not 100% sure if the Edge 850 actually stores its brightness settings permanently after a power cycle, but the new interface suggests a more "fixed" configuration approach.
Could the Garmin team please clarify:
Does the Edge 850 (or 550) store the auto-brightness intensity level across power cycles?
If so, can we expect this improved, persistent logic to be ported to the Edge 1050 flagship in a future firmware update?
We really need a way to set our preferred "baseline" for auto-brightness once, so it stays active for every ride without daily manual intervention.
Thank you!
