Navigation prompts covering data fields on Edge

Hi,

On my Edge, the navigation instructions (turn-by-turn pop-ups) overlap with the bottom data parameters. Even with minimal settings, they block my view of important metrics during a course.

Can we get an option to toggle off all navigation overlays? I would prefer to just follow the line on the map without any text boxes covering my data.

Thanks!

  • You can do that by turning off turn instructions. It will also stop the turn instruction showing on the top of the map page.

Go to Navigation -> Courses -> 3 dot menu top right hand corner of screen -> Turn Guidance (Set to off)

  • I never use navigation instructions. I select the stored course. Tap the three dots in the upper right corner and check/enable the always display option and choose an appropriate color and then go back to the map screen. You see the course as a coloured line. Just keep your position on the coloured line. That is it. No nagging of the navigation software with sometimes weird instructions.

  • An even better option is to turn off the turn guidance as  suggests and then just select the ride and press the "RIDE" button and "start" button, this will display just the route but with a wider route line than the thin "always display" version. Your position on the route is still displayed and updated as you progress. This approach also provides the option to use "Course Points" that you have placed on the route, you don't need the "always display" option at all..

  • That is also an option. I prefer the always display option. I never use course points and with the 1050 display the coloured lines are very bright and have a high contrast. Personally I don’t like the wide magenta line. Ymmv.

  • Personally I don’t like the wide magenta line

Me too but on my 1040 I still have the option to change the route line color, an option garmin, in their wisdom, removed from the 1050?

  • I honestly don’t know. The line showed in your screenshot looks exactly like mine preferred always display option without the direction arrows and the virtual partner which if I call correctly you can turn that off now for the route you started. With the always display option you don’t have to start, stop, enable/disable anything. It is just there. I like that. In the previous models the colors were not that vivid for my taste but that is solved by the new display of the 1050.
