Edge turns on when connecting and disconnecting charger

I know this was raised before and garmin has not addressed this issue. I find it ridiculously annoying. Every device out there does not behave this way, nor did prior garmin edge devices. My unit is off, I plug it in to charge, this turns the unit on, now I need to wait for it to boot up while plugged in,  then turn power off. Similarly once it's fully charged, I unplug it, this turns the unit on again and again, I need to wait for it to boot on,  then turn it off. If Garmin is trying to frustrate us they are succeeding. Not to mention that this high end toy being promoted as having snappy response to user input feels like a cheap toy from the 80s when trying to operate the touch screen at certain temperatures, time of day, who knows what. Let's go garmin, fix the silly turn on when plugging and unplugging and fix the silly touch screen behavior.

  • This drives me absolutely nuts. It is a real problem on bikepacking trips - if you don't keep an eye on the Garmin it will turn on the screen when fully charged and burn through the charge in your power bank unless you make a point of waking up through the night to disconnect it.  Then wait for it to boot up of course, before you turn it off again . Crazy behaviour.

  • That drives me crazy as well, especially that it turns on when unplugged. You always have to wait and manually turn it off again before putting it aside. As I recharge after every ride it is a constant annoyance.

Garmin always just closes each topic that adresses this issue, just saying it is intentional and never explain the intention behind it. So I don´t expect it to be different here. On the other side: after decades (at least feels like) of complaining users they finally made it possible to switch the virtual partner off, so maybe there is some hope.....
