This issue is wider than Varia and x40, it occurs with Explore 2 and Bontrager lights too. I contacted support and first they told me it's Bontrager fault but after showing topics in this forum they acknowledged that this is on Garmins side and told me they are merging this issues. After two months, about a week ago, I contacted them again and they told me that NOTHING WILL BE DONE because it's not widely occuring problem.

I reviewed your Garmin Support contact history and we advised that you should contact Bontrager (Trek) as well, to see if they can provide any additional insights or troubleshooting with their hardware.
If it seems like you're experiencing the exact same symptoms, but with a 3rd party light, it is possible Garmin's resolution for Varia will address your concern as well. I can not say for sure and will post here with updates when available.
