Free Climb Pro - a question

A question, I’m sure  can answer:

In which way are sections of free climb pro build?

On a Edge device there are
-DEM map
-topo map of the region
-climb pro map

Does climb pro maps contain all possible climbs predefined for all classes?
Or builds the Edge the annonced free climb pro section „on the fly“ - based on what maps?

  • Good questions ( i suppose the climb pro map is the answer, yes, and climbpro again) and i have a few:

what i dont understand why is the free climbpro not self-training, i am riding on same routes and the free climbpro's elevation graphs are usually bad or far from the real elevation chart (not so precise and accurate as the measured chart with the device itself). when i finish with a climb, it is clearly noticable and comparable, but the best, if i am doing laps/loops, at the 2nd attemt the climbpro for the previous finished climb has the same bad elevation chart as it was at 1st. why didnt it learn and show me with the previously good elevation chart. and other question, why dont use the Garmin the user's measurements as a big data to improve their database and sending it regularly (daily/ weekly ) to the users as climbpro map update to ride with always the most accurate elevation chart profiles for climbpro segments?

  • The ClimbPro database or map is built off of the matching Topo map.

  • It identifies the climbs and allows you to search for them. It also shows the climb start icon on the map page if that is enabled.
When you are riding ClimbPro uses the active map in conjunction with the DEM data to project climbs. It also uses the ClimbPro database data to look for climb branches off of the projected path.

  • then for better elevation charts for free climpro climbs do we need more accurate TopoActive map files and/or DEM map files? are these using the users data for learning/improving or both are coming from a 3rd party provider and we cant do nothing? (because these are updating 1-2x per year...)

  • and today i managed to get a secret "DescentPro" also! :)

and here is the comparison of the elevation profiles (climb 5 and 6 are the same climb, just for test):

  • DEM data is the key.

For free riding the quality/granularity of the DEM data is the key.

If you are following it a course it is the accuracy of the elevation data supplied by the course creation tool.
