The Screen turns off for a second while riding

Hello,

As the title says, I’ve been experiencing an issue with the screen. While riding, the screen sometimes (apparently at random) goes off for a second and then turns back on.

I’ve already reset the device, but the issue still occurs. The device is connected to a cadence sensor and a dual heart rate monitor strap.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Thanks in advance.

  • My rides are 1-2 hours. Of course I don't watch all the time the screen, so not sure how often it happens. But noticed it also one time within five minutes after leaving home.

  • I can confirm that disabling the auto-brightness does not solve the problem. Last Saturday, I noticed the black screen even though I had disabled the auto-brightness option.

  • Is there already an official answer from Garmin about this issue? If it is a software issue I am not that worried because it doesn't bother me that much. If it is a hardware problem I am worried.

  • To get something exactly right

  • I've had a bug report open for this. it was closed with the answer that i should contact garmin support. I did this and they changed my 1050 with no questions asked. Unfortunately the new one shows exactly the same behavior. Maybe it is not that often as the old one but this also can be my imagination.

Im not sure of what to do now, maybe ill contact the support again, now is off season and here is ice and snow, i don't need it in the moment if they want to exchange it again

  • I contacted Garmin Iberia (Spain and Portugal Support Center), and they asked me for a video. How am I supposed to record a video? Using a smartphone while training? Or buy a camera only for this problem? That's ridiculous.

  • I have the same issue

  • I have the same issue as well. The screen randomly turns off for a second during rides and then comes back on. Resetting didn’t fix it for me either.
