Garmin 1050 Won't Auto Upload

I have a Garmin 1050 running the latest software 13.14.  It is connected to high speed Wi-Fi in my garage.  Recently, it quit uploading my bike rides and I noticed that the WiFi symbol on the home page was flashing indicating that it was not connected.  The workaround was to open the Garmin main menu, hit Connected Features and then WiFi.  Then reenter the PW and then the Garmin connects to WiFI and uploads.

In the absence of WiFi, should the Garmin upload to my iPhone via Bluetooth and then sync over the cellular network?  That doesn't work on my Garmin.

Anyone else have this problem?

  • I also have problems connecting to WiFi — it often doesn’t connect, and I fix it by updating the password. Other times, I have to restart it.

  • OP here.  Now when I finish my rides, my 1050 connects to my iPhone via Bluetooth and quickly syncs.  Don't know what changed but I'm happy about it.

  • I used to prefer Wi-Fi for the convenience, but I guess I'll give Bluetooth a shot too. The device's Wi-Fi isn't great overall, so hopefully, an update will sort that out.
    Thanks for the feedback.

  • I have never figured out to how to make it sync via bluetooth exclusively.

In Connected Features > Phone: it is set to enable but their is no "Auto Upload" feature like there is in Connected Features > Wi-Fi.

  • Same issue. My rides always finish at home where I have solid strong WiFi. The only way I can get my ride to upload successfully is to go to the menu and select Connected Features/ WiFi Sync

    Won’t do it automatically anymore.

  • This can‘t be a general issue, because my 1050 (v 13.14) does autoupload without problems. I have WIFI enabled and the phone connected. Every ride is uploaded more or less immediately after saving the ride - regardless of wether I’m at home in my home network or at holidays in a hotel, without connection to their WIFI (wether Edge nor iPhone, phone is connected to internet by network).
