13.14 Endless reboot

I received my Garmin 1050 today and after setting up wifi got an immediate prompt to update from version 7.19 to 13.14. After starting the update, the device is now stuck in an endless reboot loop. I haven't even had a chance to use it on my first ride.

Looking through other threads, it seems like this issue has affected many users there are only temporary solutions, Is this a common problem within the Garmin ecosystem? I'm seriously considering returning it as a faulty unit since it arrived today and hasn't worked at all.

Has there been an official fix or workaround for this?

    Nvm I just gave up and returned it  this is way to expensive to malfunction on day one

    Can't say I blame you. If a firmware update on a brand new device isn't seamless and results in bricked or non-functioning hardware send it back. We had that problem recently with a new Varia Vue for my wife, but Garmin support was great, arranged for a return, and sent us a brand new one faster than I could have returned the bad one to the vendor.
