Firmware 13.13: 6 crashes during a 35km ride...

When I got the offer to update my Edge 1050 to firmware 13.13 I made the mistake to update Disappointed

During a 35km ride this evening I had 8 freezes: after about 5 km, 10 km,  20 km, 30km, 34 km, 34.2 km, when saving at 34.5 km and a minute later when I wanted to switch it off.

The device is with this firmware completly unuseable. The freeze happend on all screens and in all modes. Never had that before.

    Today I did a 70 km ride with the v13.14 beta. Map from https://www.velomap.org. It seems to be working for me, no crashes! Thanks Garmin for finally doing your job.

    However, after having to use the Garmin maps for two weeks, I find it shocking how absolute useless it is for me. It's nice to have the option to customize my own maps again.

    Beta Firmware 13.14 seems to fix the crashes, no problems anymore on todays ride with my own OSM map.

    Same here, looks like Beta Firmware 13.14 is working fine now, no more issues with custom maps.

    Sounds ok but when will this release (13.14?) be available for non beta users? People are waiting for this fix as the device is just driving one crazy :-( all those freezes during a ride….. just a shame frankly :-( I mean this has nothing to do with a Beta but just a hotfix for a buggy release. Just the fact that users cannot downgrade to a working release is ridiculous. Total management fail.

    +1. Extreme hubris on the part of Garmin to think that they're never going to screw up a release, particularly as what they do release seems to be considerably more buggy than that from the great majority of large companies. I worked in software development for more than 30 years before retirement, and at nowhere that I worked would we ever have dreamed of releasing the sort of bug-ridden crap that Garmin regularly come out with.

    totally agree. I'm back at v11.24 and apart from a singular visual bug everything just works. On later versions I had reboots, sensor disconnects and other bad behaviors.

    Feels like there's no regression testing or even no testing at all. On top v13.13 did not went usual beta release path but was pushed straight to production instead. As an embedded dev in safety critical applications field I wouldn't dare doing something reckless like that.

    I spontaneously signed up for the beta program (in Connect Web, Devices) and was able to install the update on my Edge via Wi-Fi within an hour.
