How to pause a ride

This may be the dafted question ever but how do I pause a ride? If I swipe up nothing happens. I can change the Timer settings ie Auto Pause and Timer Start Mode options but I still can't pause a ride!

The simplest way is to press Start button. This will pause the ride. Press the Left Arrow (at left top) after the pause screen asks for saving!

Don‘t forget to press Start again when continuing the ride!
(That is the dilemma with this procedure.)

I don't do the intermediate bit. I just press start to pause and press it again to start. If it goes to sleep in the meantime, press the power button to wake it up.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated. As a work around it does work! I also had to lock the screen because I take the unit off the bike during cafe stops. Can't belive Garmin have omitted a sensible pause function.

Thanks. When I tried mcinner1's suggestion I also realised this would work. I'm amazed there is no proper pause function and that the Auto Pause / Timer Start Mode don't fully work. Or rather, if the Timer Start Mode is just for the first start then why is there no Restart Timer Mode.
