Edge 1050 pauses while cycling

Edge 1050 pauses while cycling. I found it also happening when braking hard or when taking a sharp turn  at speed. Its then in pause mode and does not resume. I have stop/start, other views but nothing will get it to resume the ride. I have to switch it off, wait 20sec  and then power back on. I can then resume the ride. This is also happening while doing intervals. Each and every interval - as soon as I stand and pedal - 10-15sec later I get this pause and refuses to start again. So obviously the interval is not complete. I have a FR955 and it does the same but not as often. I have incident reporting switched off, not sharing my ride, changed routes, once I cycled about 15km with stop and starts but the pause did not record any of that. So it is paused and not recording anything. This is not geo location issues either, happens everywhere. I cant replicate it when I take the computer off the mount while cycling and shaking it to try and simulate the standing movements. But this is happening from day one that I bought it. Paired with HR and a GSC10 cadence sensor

  • When using a well working GSC10 this should not happen.

I assume, you have Autostop enabled „on stopped“?
You should have a look at the speed shown on your Edge, when the problem happens.
If it shows no speed, then the problem is your sensor.

  • Im only using the cadence part of the sensor and not the speed sensor. I am happy with getting speed from gps. I have auto pause on but have not set the manual speed option. When i stop the recording pauses correctly within 1-2 sec and when I pull away it will start in 2-3sec - Im happy with that. But I can stand and pedal at any speed and that movement makes it to pause, same when taking a sharp corner - not all corners. But standing cycling, heavy braking and sharp corners has a 80% of this issue happening

  • Is there a speed shown on your Edge when it happens?

  • Speed shows as 0kmh. So I did a ride yesterday and used both the Edge 1050 and FR955 on the handlebar. They would pause at the same time - within a second of each other. And as mentioned above - I have to then stop the current ride and shut down the units and then startup and I can then resume the ride

  • I would say: it‘s all about speed. And since you use not a speedsensor, speed has to be evaluated by GPS.
And therefore: it‘s all about GPS!

Try to use other settings for GPS!

Pay attention to the GPS signal!

You also can try to disable Autostart. This would not help to eliminate the problem, but you can see what happens if you go on after a pause.

  • I would understand if I was mountain biking in dense cover but its road cycling and not in town - speed limit for cars is 100kmh. there is no way Im not having 95-100% gps signal.
The auto start works amazing. I can stop and start and the timer will react in 1-1.5sec - beautiful stuff

  • thanks for your post, I suspect the behavior lies with the GSC10 as mentions.

You can connect to and enable/disable the different components of newer sensors (speed and/or cadence) separately, but the older GSC10 may only work as a combined sensor (speed & cadence). I would recommend un-pairing the GSC10 or simply going for a test ride without it to see if the error persists.

If you are only seeking cadence data from the sensor and are getting speed via GPS, I may suggest a standalone cadence sensor.

  • Ahh did not read that correctly then coming from . My apologies. Ok I will remove the GSC10 from one device and go for a ride. Then I assume the other device would continue with the issue - I hope so.

Thank you for pointing that out to me
