Suggestions to Improve Remote Functionality

Hello Garmin team and fellow users,

I would like to share my thoughts on the remote control functionality. While the current design is useful, I believe there are some key areas for improvement:

Programmable Buttons: It would be highly beneficial if every button on the remote were fully programmable to better suit individual needs.
Zoom Functionality: Currently, there is no option to zoom in or out on maps directly using the remote. This feature would greatly enhance usability, especially during navigation.

These enhancements could make the product more versatile and user-friendly. Thank you for considering this feedback!

Probably not happening as I think the Garmin Edge Remote is discontinued, sadly.

I have never understood why we are forced to have laps. I have never in 70 years needed to record a lap and am unlikely to do so. I continue to suggest that the lap button on both the head unit and remote are useless for my purpose and with 10 minutes of coding could make my life a lot better.

I completely agree with you. The lap functionality seems to cater to a specific subset of users while being unnecessary for many others. It's frustrating that this button, which could easily be reprogrammed for other purposes, remains fixed in its current role. Interestingly, this is not unique to Garmin. The Karoo 3, for example, also insists on having a dedicated lap function, which feels equally out of place for those of us who have no use for it. A small software update to allow customization could go a long way in improving the experience for a broader range of users.

I agree that the Garmin Edge Remote is an older solution, but it is still actively supported and sold by Garmin. Moreover, it is compatible with the newest Edge 1050

There are a few older topics about this in the accessories section of the forum. They all have been completely ignored by Garmin to date. So I would not count on it eber happening sadly.

Similiar to disabling the virtual partner, sort of a running joke already.

Yes I have repurchased one to change screens on my mountain bike rather than destroy it with swiping.
