Navigation on Edge 1050 with Trailforks

I’m still on the fence on purchasing a 1050 which would mostly be used while mountain biking in new riding spots where cell coverage is lacking. I just need to understand if the Trailforks maps can be downloaded and if I can simply ride without having transferred a pre planned route to the device, accessing information on the various trails around me by clicking on them and seeing more data - a bit like I would do on the TF app on a phone. Does the 1050 support this freeride mode with Trailforks (with trail colors and details)? Thanks in advance for your input.

  • You don’t need Trailforks pro

  • You pick the “Trailforks trail network” you want to ride in, then select a starting point, then choose the “Difficulty” rating of the trails you want to ride, then it will calculate some route options for you to choose from as a round trip course using that grade of trail.

or you can select specific trails to bevrouted on.

and then yes, it will “navigate” you on those trails

  • Alternatively if you just go to Navigate, then browse the map, the pick a spot somewhere in a Trailforks trail network area, it will route you according to the route preferences you have setup in whichever Activity profile you are using. And if that permits mixed surfaces or gravel or mountain it will happily send you down the Trailforks routes

As an example with the Gravel or Mountain Activity profiles, under  “routing mode” it will have Gravel Cycling and Mountain Biking respectively automatically selected for those profiles.
