Firmware 12.16 & 12.17: Missing visual and acoustic feedback when connecting sensors

Before the update to 12.16 and 12.17, I for visual and acoustic feedback when sensor where connected to the 1050. Now only the symbol in the header become active.

With firmware 11.24 connecting a sensor, give the following feedbacks:

  • activation of the header symbol: still working
  • a small popup message at the to of the screen: not working anymore
  • an acoustic signal: not working anymore

This is very annoying, because the header symbols are tiny and the header is not always visible, i.e. on the map and data screens. With the current state, I may not see, if a sensor has connected or not.

Happens with all my sensors: speed, cadence! remote and the heart rate sensor of my Epix 2.

Is this a bug?

If so, I am very concerned that each new firmware release fixes some bugs, like the random reboots, but introduces new ones as well. It is time to make the 1050 work stable instead of providing new gimmicks.

  • the same here - Edge 1040 FW 26.17 (No Beta)

I contacted the German Garmin support about this and they created a ticket with their US colleagues.

    Please wait Wink ...

  • Garmin has definitely to improve their testing, when integrating and releasing new firmware. It is simply too common that functions, which did work, suddenly fail with a firmware update, which is not acceptable.

Currently, I have three major issues:

    • auto brightness doesn’t work when the 1050 is started from sleep mode in darkness or low light
    • missing visual and and acoustic feedback when connecting sensors (this one)
    • not corresponding intensity minutes between 1050 and Garmin Connect
  • this has ben reported during beta more than once. Garmin did the right thing and ignored the feedback.

Same as reports about crashes in 2 latest beta released that got ignored and now stable reboots at least twice per hour on a factory reseted device in out of the box state. How hard is to test that?
