Ride not recorded when I followed a course

I followed a course the other day which was brilliant as the map keeps popping up and giving you directions all the time. Once I had finished the ride I saved as usual, but it didn't actually record my ride at all. What did I do wrong?

Did you start the activity timer when you started riding? Loading a course and navigating that course does not automatically start the activity timer, you need to do that yourself (or use Auto for the Timer Start Mode setting).

Hi Jim, how do I do that? I went into the course and selected ride, wouldn't that just start everything?

Selecting the course just starts navigation, not the activity timer. Press the (physical) button on the bottom right of the unit (the one with the Play/Pause icon on it) to start the timer.

When you press it again when the activity timer is running, you will pause recording. You can then either resume recording again by pressing the button again or finish the ride by following the instructions on screen.

Ah right, that makes perfect sense thanks. I would have thought that it would make sense for it to automatically record it when you select ride, why would you now want to record it?

There is a auto start feature available in each profile. You might want to review the manual.
