1050 restarting on 11.24 software - temporary workaround?

I bought a 1050 when it first came out, and migrated my profiles and sensors from my 1040. I had random restarts most rides, although had a 7hr ride with zero restart during a half-Everest.

I decided to return it within the first month, and use a Karoo 3.

I now bought a new 1050 unit because I just got Garmin RS200 pedals, and wanted to use Cycling Dynamics:

- First ride: no problems

- Second ride: about 5-6 restarts, lost 7km of data all up.

- Third ride:  2 restarts... the first one came after 40km or so, when I stopped for about 5 minutes, got going again, it restarted straight away. I then hit pause and resume, and it worked fine until my next stop. As soon as I resumed again, it crashed within the same kind of 2-3 minutes of resuming the ride.

Anyone else who gets these crashes notice them happening after stopping for a bit? Is it something to do with auto-pause perhaps?

I'm going to try to stick with it this time, so will get in touch with Garmin officially when they're open after the weekend - posting in case it helps someone troubleshoot their own errors.

PS: Keeping the Karoo 3 also, but its evolution / famous fortnightly updates seem to have faded away into once every 2-3 months with almost no features added. It's missing Cycling Dynamics and a few other things for me that I just don't see happening: music controls, alarm, food / hydration reminders.

PPS: Someone on the ride today had the Wahoo Ace - it is HUGE!

  • I'm having the same crash issues since 2 weeks from now. So far never happened (it happened once with my former 840), but recently it keeps crashing, which is really annoying and disgusting.

A last generation device with just a few months of usage and keeps having software errors.. I really hope they release a software update soon and fix all of that.

  • I have the same problem. It freezes and shuts down. I have to stop and restart the device. I did an hard reset but nothing changed

  • The same here. Every ride at least one restart during the ride.

  • So, I got a reply from the support center (it's in Spanish), from all the points and files they say I should delete, I only found 2. I did it, and since then I did 4 rides and no issues. But as I said, it happened every once in a while, so I am still not convinced it will not do it again anymore... fingers crossed. If you guys wanna follow the steps and give your feedback after some rides... (perhaps you can use google translate):
