Garmin edge 1050

Rode yesterday everything was fine. Rode today. None of the buttons work with the exception of the power button for screen capture. What does this mean, it means I could not stop my 101 mile ride on Sunday. The only way I can get it to power back on is hold the power button for 30 seconds. But the start button and lap button are dead. The device has never hit the ground so there is nothing broken from wear and tear. The unit is less than 6 months old.

Any advice, I have not preformed a total reset yet as I wanted to speak to Garmin support first.

  • Last time I had a problem with my Edge device it turned out to be a route which has special character and that was causing my unit to crash, become unresponsive, or not wake up from a sleep state. I removed the route and then the unit ended up working great after.

  • Garmin is replacing the unit. There is something going on with it. Buttons won't work and when I do get it to power on it comes up in usb teather  mode. New unit will be here tomorrow.
