Edge 1050 out of memory and other bugs

Yesterday I had Edge 1050 "out of memory" message on bottom 1/3 of the map screen followed by a complete unprompted reboot and track data loss. It happened when I deviated from a gpx track (uploaded via Komoot app) so I suspect it's related to recalculating route.

It's a concerning trend where supposedly flagship model fails me time and again. Apart from this one I had:

  • reboots out of the blue without any message
  • freezes followed by a reboot
  • instance of abandoning gpx track and routing straight to beginning of the route ignoring map data
  • when I tried latest OpenStreetMap .img from bbbike.org extract I had an old Garmin bug where there was an constant offset between path drawn on map and route Garmin wanted me to take. This was a thing fixed long time ago on older Garmin devices. How it's happening again on 1050?
  • on round trip .gpx routes that have 2 roughly perpendicular stretches Garmin tries to cut the way to my destination and starts routing me back home even if that means shortening gpx track by 80% and 60+km. Route to destination and route back were 2 straight forest paths spaced by about 10km in a straight line.

I'm on the latest firmware 19.19 and the latest map for my area.

Is there anything I can do to try and solve at least some of the above or is it classic 'wait for patch' situation? I still can return my 1050 and I wonder should I do that. In 12 days I have my unit it failed me way too many times.
