Yesterday during a ride, the course-line color switched from purple to yellow and after a while back to purple.
Why is the course-line displayed in yellow?
Can I turn it off?

The yellow is the categorization of the whole climb. The green section in the elevation plot is just the current part.
I believe that there was bug that is fixed in the 10.x to cover the fact that map…
I suspect it is because ClimbPro is enabled and it is showing you that section of road is climb. The color corresponds to the climb categorization.
Thank you, @aweatherall sounds right, found this in the release notes for the upcoming 10.x version:
"fixed issue where climbs would draw on course despite the setting being disabled."
This hopefully…

Looks like Climbpro is disabled
And why would the line be yellow, while riding a "green" part (0%-3%) of the climb? Yellow would be 3-6% gradient ...
.. very confusing

I believe that there was bug that is fixed in the 10.x to cover the fact that map was still being colored with climbs even when ClimbPro was off.

This hopefully fixes the issue, see Public Beta 10.11 - Live - Announcements - Edge 1050 - Garmin Forums
And this also seems correct: "yellow is the categorization of the whole climb. The green section in the elevation plot is just the current part."
