Can someone tell me why the Edge 1050 got a glossy and not a matte screen ?
I'm not interested in my head on the screen.
Hammerhead Karoo 2 has matte screen and it works very well.

I disagree. Had a Karoo 2 and the matte screen made it very difficult to see in bright sunlight if you don't have the brightness cranked up. Matte screens are good for MIP style displays and whatever Wahoo…
I like the gloss screen, increases contrast & keeps text sharp (unlike matte screens). I have my unit angled properly so it doesn’t reflect my face, maybe give that a try. You can easily make your glossy…
Weak even as a joke.

Agree. I trialled a Hammerhead Karoo 2 but I didn't find the display really impressive. For me the matte screen creates a sort of fuzzy filter that makes it look less good than it should be.

You can easily make your glossy screen matte w/ a screen protector if you wish; the same can’t be done to turn a matte screen glossy. Glossy screen satisfies both the majority who want a gloss screen & the minority of users who want a matte screen, as well as maintains image quality for people, like me, who struggled to see the washed out low contrast transflective screens that Garmin used to use.
