Connecting Edge 1050 to Android via USB

Tried to connect an Edge 1050 to my Android Smartphone via USB-cable. The idea was to transfer files from/to the device.

This works fine when connecting the Edge to a Windows computer, but connecting to an Android Smartphone never worked.

I tried different cables (regular USB-C, USB-OTG), but filetransfer was never possible.

Smartphone is a Google Pixel 7 with newest Android-version.

The phone recognizes the 1050, but all options for filetransfer are grey, and it is not possible to switch control to the phone.

The 1050 supports the MTP-filetransfer-protocol, Android also supports MTP: why is filetransfer not working?

The new 1050 is not supporting USB-OTG anymore, but MTP instead. MTP should work with a regular USB-cable (not OTG) and is supported by Android .. but not working.

I asked the Garmin support about it …

Same problem here, did not find a solution for this yet.

With Edge 1030/1040 i used OTG adapter and app TotalCommander with an extension to access the file system But this doesn't work with 1050.

I asked the Garmin support about it (Referenz-ID:28047484K0):

"Der Edge lässt sich nur mit einem PC verbinden, oder über Bluetooth mit der Garmin Connect App auf dem Handy, alles andere funktioniert nicht."

in english:

"The Edge can only be connected to a PC or via Bluetooth with the Garmin Connect app on the cell phone, nothing else works."

According to Garmin it's just not possible.
