Why is this a climb?

Hi all,

I was riding along river Elbe when my Edge 1050 announced a climb. In Garmin Connect it looks like this:

0m elevation gain over a distance of 800m. Not exactly a climb, right? Link to ride: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/16730572059

In general, how are climbs created?

Is it a data base entry (and somebody just had fun creating this one)? If so, can I delete it?

Is it created on the fly by my Edge 1050 knowing geographic details of the road I am riding? If so, can I set a threshold e.g. minimum of 100m elevation gain otherwise don't bother me with announcing a climb?

Thank you!

  • Obviously, this looks like an error in the maps.

One thing you could try to get ride of this "climb":

Go into your activity profile (presumably Road in this case).  Select Climbs, then if you now have Uncategorized selected, select Cat 4.

I live in an area with lots of small climbs.  I was seeing notifications of small climbs (some under 20 meters).  Changing to Cat 4 has eliminated climb notifications in my home area.

  • Indeed. It was set to uncategorized. I have set it now to Cat 4. Thanks for pointing me to this!
