Garmin: PLEASE say goodbye to the annoying 100 courses limit

New model, old problems...
I still don't understand why Garmin only allows ridiculous 100 routes to be stored on their top-level devices. There is enough storage space. 100 routes is really very little.
Please give us at least 200 routes! That should be possible without major problems via firmware update.

Or at least give me a plausible explanation for this absolute anachronism.

  • Totally agree, that is a completely anachronistic limitation.

  • Is absolutely crazy, 10+ years using their products and my latest 1050 still supports the same number of courses as my first unit 12 years ago. Need to keep deleting to bring on new ones. Thanks Garmin!

  • Yes please... This is really a strange limitation.

  • I totally agree, the 100 courses limit is outdated. With current storage capacities, increasing the limit should be an easy update for Garmin. It's time to modernize this feature and provide more flexibility for users who need to manage multiple routes

  • It is unacceptable that there is no warning when the device reaches the 100-course limit. When this happens, Garmin Connect continues to display a message saying the new course will be ready for navigation once the upload is complete, misleading the user. In reality, the course does not upload, and no notification is given. This not only wastes time but creates confusion for users who rely on these devices during their rides.

  • Agree, this limit, and the limit on segments, is arbitrary and should be raised or removed altogether.

  • Agree. I was expecting so much more.

  • Okay, the limit seems arbitrary, and the lack of a warning when you reach the limit is sloppy programming.

But I'd like to know how long it has been since you rode the 100th most popular course on your Edge.  The courses all still exist on the platform where you created them (Garmin Connect, MapMyRide, RideWithGPS, Komoot, Strava, etc.).  So how hard is it, really, to dump 75 of those courses?  It might make choosing the course you want to ride faster, with fewer courses to look through....

I have 31 courses on Garmin Connect (and more on platforms I've used in the past), but if I create a course that I only want to use once, I delete it from my Edge after use, and most likely, I'll also delete it from the platform I created it on. I don't expect I'll ever reach the 100 limit.

  • I understand your point about managing routes efficiently to make the 100-course limit sufficient. However, a more user-friendly solution is possible.

If Garmin Connect allowed filtering courses by distance and elevation with a better map view, users could easily select a route on their smartphone without storing every course on the Edge 1050. This feature is already available with a competitor, making route management seamless.

Both solutions should be implemented: an improved Garmin Connect app and removing the 100-course limit. The Edge 1050 should also support filtering courses directly on the device. This would greatly enhance user experience.
