Navigation - automatic Zoom

Did the automatic zoom setting on the 1050 change? I have the feeling that even when enabled it often stays fixed. When approaching a turn it doesnt zoom in to 50m. It just stays fixed to like 120m or even 200m. Only time the setting changes the zoom if it is rerouting, but then it does zoom out even further to like 600 or 800m making the map even smaller. 
Anyone experience this?

    Yes even though I have zoom in set, they need to fix this

    So after a few test rides it doesnt seem it is fixed with 10.18. it is stuck at 50m all the time.

    This is a very well known inssue with all garming Edge computers (not 800 or 810). Garmin is very well aware of the fact autozoom does not do what it is supposed to do but they don't care at all.

    If you check these forums and the internet on edge + autozoom you'll find it is all over the place, however no official reaction from Garmin anywhere.

    A real shame for an otherwise good product.

    I have the 1030 model and the auto zoom works fine. The problem most have started in the latest models.

    It also worked fine on the Edge 1040. But since changing to the Edge 1050, the feature is broken since release. I dont know if it is broken with the newer software version on the 1040, but if it is, then that is the reason.

    GARMIN do not pretend problem does not exist. It's a simple feature which used to work. We pay premium price for your devices and we expect premium support or at least basic functionality.

    Garmin support has been deaf to the reported issue (since August 2024!!), and their replies are along the lines of: "We are unable to reproduce the behaviors you described."

    So I have done special comparison for Garmin. 

    I used two garmin devices - Edge 1050, and Edge 1030 plus.
    I loaded the route created in the Ride with GPS service onto both devices
    All navigation settings were the same: autozoom ON

    Sorry for the black bars - result of image stabilization in post-production. If I had cropped them out, too much of the important part of the movie would have been cut off.

    RWGPS route

    Edge 1030p: Even when I manually reduced the zoom (to 500m) beforehand, the map zoomed in (to 50m) before the turn. After that the map is zoomed out to 80m (is it not on video)

    Edge1050: automatic zoom was not working. It didn’t work at all. The zoom level during whole ride was on level which I manually set (+/- icon on map screen).

    Back to start

    The autozoom function works correctly on both devices when navigating thru route that was created on the device. For example back to start option. 

    I sent another ticket to Garmin support with these videos attached. Is it that hard to fix? ;-)
