Just got a 1050, upgraded from a 1030, and Garmin still has this WRONG. It's a simple thing, to give users the ability to turn off the messy, unneeded VP.

Amazing! Developing a parameter that shows or hides the VP so that each rider can decide whether to see it or not, would solve the problem. The VP is really annoying and sometimes it even made me go…
This has been vociferously requested for at least 10 years going back over all previous Edge devices. It continues to be a complete and total mystery as to why Garmin does not allow it to be disabled.

The VP is really annoying and sometimes it even made me go the wrong way. When you go fast downhill in the middle of a forest and you can take a quick glance at the map for a second, you don't have the time to understand which triangle you are. Maybe it can be tolerated by those who do road cycling, but on a mountain bike it is not only annoying, it is an obstacle that instead of helping, disorients and puts you in danger because it forces you to look at the screen for more seconds taking your attention away from the trail and maybe even risks falling. I wonder if whoever designed it, has ever been on a mountain bike or done downhill...
+1. Daft & anoying. Garmin don't seem to listen to their users as this has been asked for for many many years (I remember it being an issue back when I first got my 1030). Garmin make excellent hardware but their software group is ... "not so great".

Switching VP off would have tipped the balance on upgrading. It’s so annoying.
Come on Garmin, it is ridiculous we can't turn this off! It actually is a problem when navigating, as it can obscure the map and create confusion. This feature should have never even been on by default, as it seems most of us don't want it. Please add a way to remove this, it's extremely clear that from all the forum messages on this, that it's probably one of the most wanted features out there!
