Garmin Edge 1050 does not appear on Finder menu on Mac

Hello,
when I connect the Garmin Edge to my Mac computers (iMac and Macbook Air), the Garmin does not appear in the Finder but is recognized by the computer's Garmin Express (because I was able to do all the updates from from Garmin Express on my Mac computer).
So I can't access the Garmin hard drive to enter all my recorded routes.
However, I updated the firmware: Software version 9.09.
What can I do to make my Garmin Edge 1050 appear in my finder on Mac?
It’s a shame for a counter of this price.
Thank you for your prompt response,

  • On a Mac you need something OpenMTP, if it is still supported.

  • Why? Garmin 1040 works fine. 1050 doesn't. Seems like a driver issue.

  • The 1050 is an MTP device.

  • Blame Apple for this, macOS has very limited support for MTP devices. In Windows the Edge 1050 will show up in Windows Explorer just fine.

  • Yep, there's a lot of the newer Garmin devices that won't show natively in MacOS Finder because of Apple's poor MTP support. People commonly used to use an app called Android File Transfer to give Finder-like access to the folder/file structure on Garmin devices, but since this is no longer available, you'll need to try one of the alternatives used to connect Android devices to Macs (Garmins don't use Android, but both use the MTP protocol). You'll also need to ensure that you don't have the MTP app and Garmin Express running in the background at the same time, as they'll conflict.

  • For the information, I have Open MTP (latest version) for Mac. The 1050 is not seen with it.

Fortunatly, I have Commander One (V:2, they have V:3 available now) that sees the Edge 1050 and all its files.

It can be bought on the AppStore.

Commander One has the viewing facility of MTP protocole.

  • Fortunatly, I have Commander One (V:2, they have V:3 available now) that sees the Edge 1050 and all its files.

Same it works in the commander browser and ONE TIME it appeared on the desktop. Have you gotten that to work? I don't mind the commander application, but would be nice to see it on the desktop. Yes have paid for it.

  • Yes, when I connected it for the first time I did see it as a drive on the desktop. Not looking into the mounted 1050, I loaded Garmin Express and did all the updates that was available. Next, I configured my menus in the 1050 like my 1030+. When I plugged back the 1050 to the computer...no drive seen anymore, just like you.

  • Get the commander window open, with the Edge 1050 on the right side of the navigation pane. Click on an activity and hold for a second, then move the file to the mac desktop. Just drop it there. Before you're able to let go of the file onto the mac desktop in the finder, the Edge 1050 will mount on the desktop

  • With my Commander One V:2, your instructions did not work for me. The file did transfer itself on the desktop, but the 1050 did not mount in the finder.
