So a the better choice is a matte screen protector for sunlight.

For all those who use protective films. I prefer hydrogel, matte and others. I bought their types from other manufacturers. None were ok. The glossy one reflected light and created reflections, the matte…
4x Savvies Full-Screen Screen Protector for Garmin Edge 1050 | protectionfilms24.com
I have had these on my Garmin Edge devices before and have them on their way. Haven't had a problem with them in the past.
My tempered glass protectors for the 1040 did not quite fit due to the curvature on the sides of the 1050. I'm curious how the Savvies work out, since glass may not be an option unless you go a little more narrow (which would probably be fine with the silicon sleave.
I use Full 3D Flexi from gllaser. It applies well and fits well around curved edges. However, it has two main disadvantages: it reflects sunlight a lot and the second disadvantage is that fingerprints remain, which make the sun's reflections even more visible. All this happens during intense sunlight.
So a the better choice is a matte screen protector for sunlight.
Yes for sunlight I'd probably use Matte, especially since the 1050 has plenty of brightness. It could make things a little fuzzy but I imagine it would be okay since the 1050 has such a high resolution.
-Hopefully this covering on the ambient light sensor won't be an issue.
I see Brotect has a Matte version for Edge 1050. Unfortunately protectionfilms24 no longer offers shipping to USA since the shipping cost is more than the product. I've heard that they will still ship to USA if you Email them for a custom quote. I sent them a message and will see if they are willing to ship.
I have just fitted a Savvies one to my 1050, they arrived this morning.
Wrote the first one off, as I couldn't seem to get the upper backing off. Anyway, it's on now touch works absolutely fine, there is a hole at the top for what looks like the light sensor, it's hard to see but it looks pretty normal no bubbles and stuck down right to the edges.
All good.

Just to clarify, the 1040 glasses protectors are a little narrow for the 1050 display and don't quite cover the edges?
Protectionfilms24 Savvies in bright sunlight.
Probably clearer in RL, there is also one on the Specialized TCD.
