new garmin 1050 won't turn on?

Just got the device in the mail, opened it up and plugged it in to start charging only to find out that it isn't doing anything.... at all? I don't get a charging light, the screen doesn't say it's charging even if it's off? It doesn't boot itself nor is it bootable after simply leaving it plugged in for 15+ minutes.

Hopefully I'm just doing something very stupid and you guys can educate me. I've tried the cable that comes with it, a cable I've tested to charge my phone, multiple power bricks. Hopefully someone can tell me why I'm dumb pretty quickly and save me from thinking I just received a brick in the mail.

    Bought it from BackCountry and delivered today, same issue here, the device just won't respond.

    Backcountry return policy is 360 days so just contact them online and ask for a replacement.

    Mine is dead today. Calling Garmin on Monday. What a bummer.

    Another dead unit . I’m using it while riding the ugandacyclingtrail for 24 days… and now after 9 days without a working device… while I just invested 750€ to be completely prepared for this unique ride.

    Just received mine from Mike's Bikes (great shop and price BTW). Worked for 2 rides. I leave it on a low wattage charger when not in use. Pressed power. Nothing. Connected it to a different charger. Nothing. Held power again. Nothing. Held power and start button (all while connected to charger) and it powered on 100% charge. I don't think I'm ready to swap it out, but Garmin.. pay attention and either release a statement to replace or a new firmware please.

    Mine did 6-7 rides then suddenly wouldn't turn on.  This post let me fix it by holding down round ride and power.  Did another 4 rides then brick time.  Just rebooted it again only takes about 90 mins to get all my settings back Disappointed.  Is this a faulty device or just faulty software that will be fixed.  I will need the Garmin to help monitor blood sugar levels so I need to know if I get it replaced asap.

    Alas, same problem here. First 10 rides everything okay, but today it refused to come to life. The holding power button for 30 seconds works, but I wonder if this is a hardware or software problem? Seeing all these comments it is a fairly widespread problem, and I hope Garmin take responsibility!

    I have a similar issue. The Edge 1050 seems to drain the battery while it is switched off.

    I had fully charged the device, didn’t use it for about one week and could not switch it on. After one hour at a charger and holding down the on/off button for 30 seconds it turned on showing only 14% state of charge.

    I'll keep an eye on it for a few days and if it doesn't improve (software update?) I'll ask for a replacement device.

    You have to be certain that you have hit the red Power Off banner or else the computer merely goes to sleep and is still active enough to drain the battery. This is a very easy mistake to make so if the screen just goes gray without showing you that it is powering down then you have not actually turned off the computer. BTW, I did trade in my 1050 for a 1040 solar.
