Question about screen quality of Edge 1050

I've read and looked at the reviews from DCR and GPLama, I've read all the other available articles: the new display is praised above all else.
But I would be interested to see how the display performs in direct sunlight. When I look at my iPhone 15 with the brightest setting in direct sunlight, it's hard to read. So I wonder if it's really possible that the display of the Edge 1050 works so well in direct sunlight?
Can anyone make a reliable statement?

I did a couple of road rides with the 1050 and cannot complain - it's crisp, has great resolution & contrast - you name it. It's sitting on a Canyon front-mount (see the H36 thread where i replied)- so no shade from my body - and with brightness set to ~70-80% (or even Auto) - it works just fine. From a screen pov, i would use the 1050 over the 840 any day.

Yeah - just don't worry running out of battery, regardless of sensors, brightness settings and so on- that's a non issue, trust me ;-)

I've done two rides with it (including today) and the display was PERFECT. I saw no issues at all. Head and shoulders better than my 1040 Solar's screen.

Thanks. What screen mode (Auto vs. xx%) and did you have the battery save for screen brightness enabled?

I always have my screen at 100%, and no battery save enabled. I must admit, the screen is SOOOOOO much better than the 1040 Solar.

First ride with it yesterday - very little cloud cover, 95 degree with the sun beating down — there was never a moment where the screen was difficult to see due to the sunlight.

i did have a few times where I found it a bit harder to see thru my sunglasses so I would glance down to see it below/without sunglasses.

I found the angle of the device makes a big difference in screen quality (glare/reflection). I set my 1030 at near horizontal. With the 1050, the screen was hard to read at times. I adjusted it by very little (lifted top 1/2 inch) and the screen was super clear the whole ride today.
